The second suspect accused in the shooting death of Hamilton teen Brandon Musgrave is in police custody and back on Canadian soil, following a year-long, international manhunt.
Early Friday, Joshua Warner, 22, was handed over to Hamilton police detectives in Georgetown, Guyana - the capital of the small, South American nation.
He was flown back to Canada under escort later that afternoon and was scheduled to appear in court Saturday, but has been remanded for Thursday to face his charges via video link.
The plan is to have him appear along with the other accused, Tyrone Chambers, for a preliminary hearing Sept. 20, Detective Sergeant Ian Matthews said Saturday.
"There are no words to express how relieved we are, " said Musgrave's mother Janet. "You just feel like there is a weight lifted off your shoulders."
Musgrave, 18, was shot to death at a Dundurn Street house party in March 2010, after an apparent dispute over what music was playing. Two others were wounded, but survived.
Hamilton police said Warner was initially arrested by Guyana police April 8.
