Lincoln Alexander, 89 years old and probably Hamilton’s most famous citizen, is getting married to a women he’s been wooing for about a year and a half.
“I’ve met the most amazing woman,” Alexander tells The Spectator’s Jeff Mahoney in an exclusive interview running in Monday’s paper.
“Smitten is a good word.”
The object of Alexander’s affection is Marni Beal, an advertising representative at The Hamilton Spectator who pronounced herself ‘ambushed’ by her feelings after first meeting the former Ontario lieutenant-governor.
“He was just so open and gracious and generous and caring,” says Marni in the interview.
The couple plan on getting wed later this summer.
Alexander was Canada’s first black MP and black lieutenant-governor, as well serving as a cabinet minister in Joe Clark’s government.
