Cancer scam 'exhausting' for family - Dad of woman who faked illness says she has tearfully pleaded for his support

The estranged father of a Burlington woman who faked cancer said she has cried wolf too many times and he will not attend her bail hearing this morning.

Through sobs on the phone this weekend, Mike Kirilow said his daughter Ashley Kirilow pleaded with him to support her.

"She was crying nonstop ... but she's cried the crocodile tears to me one too many times," he said.

The 23-year-old woman is expected to appear at a Milton courthouse for a second bail hearing today.

She was remanded into custody after a video bail hearing Saturday afternoon.

She turned herself in to Halton police in Oakville on Friday and is charged with three counts of fraud under $5,000.

The entire process has been "emotionally exhausting" for the family, said her father.

"It's taken quite a toll on the family. I'm just spent," he said.

"(Her seven siblings) don't need this hanging over their heads for the rest of their life."
