Calls for design review of Red Hill Parkway
A Hamilton City Councillor is calling for an independent review of the design of the Red Hill Valley Parkway after it was flooded Friday for the second time in a week and the fourth time in less than a year.
Heavy rain caused crashes and sent vehicles hydroplaning into ditches and the highway was closed for several hours.
Counillor Terry Whitehead wants an outside agency to look at the design of the Red Hill to figure out why it keeps being flooded.
And Mayor Fred Eisenberger wants an explanatation from city Engineers.
Heavy rain Friday morning flooded several stretches of roadway in the east end.
Hamilton International Airport recorded 50-millimetres of rain in a 24-hour period with about 33-millimetres of that coming in a 6 hour period ending at around 2 p-m Friday.
