Your guide to Hamilton-area farmers markets

*Westdale Farmers Market -- Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the north parkade in front of My Dog Joe -- a minimarket with one or two vendors.

*Ancaster Farmers Market -- Wednesday 3 to 7 p.m. The market is located at St. John's Anglican Church, 272 Wilson St. E. (corner of Halson Street), until Oct. 13.

*Binbrook Farmers Market -- Friday 2 to 7 p.m. at the Binbrook Fairgrounds. The market is open until Thanksgiving.

*Dundas Farmers Market -- Thursday 3 to 7 p.m. in municipal parking lot 7D at Hatt Street and Miller's Lane until Oct. 28.

*Locke Street Farmers Market -- Thursday 3 to 7 p.m. at 211 Locke St. S., until Oct. 28.

*Ottawa Street Farmers Market -- Friday and Saturday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., 204 Ottawa Street N., open year-round.

*Mountain Farmers Market -- Saturday 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. 19 Viewpoint Ave., until Nov. 6.

Seriously? Omitting the Hamilton Farmers' Market??? It was bad enough that the Toronto Star, two summers ago, did an enormous two page spread on Ontario Farmers' Markets and totally overlooked us.... but you're Hamiltonians, right? The temporary location in Jackson Square may not be glamorous, but it's certainly vibrant & busy... and lots of local farmers deserve our support there! The new location looks fantastic so far, and promises to be a real focal point downtown.
