Burlington’s Chima Ihekwoaba was too busy to follow the Canadian Football League draft on the weekend.
The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks’ defensive end was busy signing a one-year contract with the NFL’s Detroit Lions after he took part in the team’s four-day rookie mini-camp that ended on Sunday.
Ihekwoaba was one of two Burlington university players taken in the CFL draft. Ihekwoaba went in the second round, going 14th overall, and Guelph Gryphons’ offensive lineman Ryan Bomben went two rounds later, 31st overall. Both were chosen by the Montreal Alouettes.
