A Burlington pilot was at the controls of a plane that crashed into a Markham office building, killing himself and a female passenger.
Police were not confirming the pilot's identity last night.
The Spectator spoke to a family member who confirmed the identity, but the newspaper does not normally publish names of the deceased before families are officially notified.
Family members gathered last night around the dining room table of the north Burlington home where the pilot lived with his wife and family. The couple operate a business behind their comfortable home.
"We haven't been officially told, but unofficially we know," said the distraught family member. "I can't even tell the children."
The body of the pilot and his passenger were removed from the wreckage overnight. Autopsies were to be performed today.
