Eager gardeners woke up across swaths of Hamilton this morning to discover Grandma was right – don’t to too eager to plant tender flowers before Victoria Day weekend.A killer frost overnight took out many of the impatiens and other pretties gardeners had planted over the last week or so after being wooed by high temperatures at the end of April.And Environment Canada says there’s more frost on the way tonight, when a low of 2C and clear skies will again conspire to create frost.The weather service does not formally issue frost warnings until May 14 – the point at which the ‘growing’ season officially begins, but chose to do so yesterday and today as a courtesy to gardeners who may have jumped the gun.
