Slo-pitch player sues Dofasco for $1.5m - Injured after setting sun dazzled him

A Hamilton man who was blinded by the sun and seriously injured during a recreational baseball game blames ArcelorMittal Dofasco, the Globe and Mail reports. 

George Black, 53, is suing the steelmaker for $1.5 million because he believes Dofasco should have installed a sun screen on the diamond to shield the rays for athletes.

A line drive hit to his third base position during sunset allegedly crushed his index and middle fingers when he lost sight of the ball. The impact also forced his glasses into his face. He says he received 20
stitches and permanent eye damage. Black operates a trucking business and said he has had three operations on the injuries.

The company had contemplated a sun screen several months before the incident but the idea fell through.

Black says Dofasco did not inspect the diamond or warn of the dangers of the sun at sunset.

Because no one has ever used the excuse "the sun was in my eyes" for missing a catch. Guess we should have signs up warning that the sun is too bright.

Clearly this is Defasco's fault. I am embarrassed for our legal system for allowing this man a free ride because he hurt himself in recreational sports.

Why is this man even being taken seriously? Next someone will sue a car company cause the windshield impaired their sight. Take responsibility for sucking at baseball dude and get on with your healing. It sucks but it's no one's fault. If you need a sign to warn you the sun is bright, perhaps you should be institutionalized.
