These are young people who probably shouldn't care too much about their city.
They are constantly exposed to violence and scorn, they see the grittiest sides of Hamilton every day, and some of them worry about their future.
They have faced a litany of struggles both at home and at school.
Yet this group of six Hamiltonians -- some newcomers, some natives to the city, all considered at-risk -- are eager to share why they are proud of Hamilton.
And they're using considerable talents to do that.
They call themselves CitySix, and they've formed following an invitation to join a grassroots, 15-week Hamilton Proud Campaign, which aims to get Hamiltonians boasting about their hometown.
The young people, ranging in age from 19 to 25, have collaborated on a rap song and a video. Their message is simple: Youth have a huge role to play in making this a better city.
In their own words:
"This is where I'm from,
Hamilton we stand up proud,
Throw your hands up to the sky,
Hamilton, now say it loud."
