Two Hamilton thieves who figured it was easier to call a cab than lug 35 kilograms of copper pipe, have been nabbed at the scrapyard gate.
Hamilton police said they were called to Lloyd D. Jackson Square Monday morning when a contractor doing some renovation discovered someone had broken into the area and stolen a lot of copper pipe.
While police were talking to the contractor, they got another call from a citizen reporting two men loading a lot of copper pipe into the trunk of a cab at Beasley Park.
Putting two and two together, the police fanned out to the city's scrap yards and arrested the pair later in the morning.
