There's word every Hamilton police officer had been given a picture of a murder suspect more than a day before he showed up in court. The Hamilton Spectator says an e-mail alert was sent out by the lead homicide investigator early Saturday evening, warning police to be on the lookout for 21-year-old Joshua Warner. The e-mail included his picture. Then at 9 o'clock Monday morning, Warner walked into a Hamilton courtroom to appear on other charges. He was remanded and allowed to leave on his own.Superintendent John Petz says the e-mail was flagged as an "officer safety" issue, meaning it would have been a voluntary read by the officers.Petz says police weren't aware Warner was to appear in court and it wasn't until 2 o'clock in the afternoon that an official arrest warrant was issued.Petz has called it an unfortunate happening of timing.
