MILTON Ashley Kirilow, the young woman who faked having cancer, has pleaded guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000.
The other six charges against her, all for fraud under $5,000, will be dealt with at a later date.
The judge has ordered a pre-sentence report.
Kirilow "liked the attention" she got from pretending to have terminal cancer, court heard.
During a confession to Halton police in August, Kirilow admitted shaving her head, plucking her brows and lashes to look like a cancer patient.
In court this morning Kirilow has hair almost to her shoulders, full brows and long lashes.
She was planning to plead guilty to fraud Monday. Instead, three more charges were laid against her, bringing the total to seven.
Kirilow’s lawyer, Brendan Neil, was scrambling to get copies of the paperwork and learn details of the latest allegations against his client even as her case was called in a Milton courtroom Monday. Kirilow, who is out on bail, appeared again Tuesday and pleaded guilty to one count of fraud over $5,000. morning.
The new charges were all for fraud under $5,000 and relate to three new complainants.
One complainant who didn’t even know she was a complainant until learning her name was in court documents — is Gillian Dorella, a promoter who put on a show at the Red Rooster in Burlington last fall and allowed Kirilow to set up a booth and collect coins for her bogus charity, Change for a Cure.
A mutual friend — another complainant — introduced Dorella to Kirilow with the understanding that the young woman was dying of cancer.
