Tattooed, handcuffed, half-naked man on the run

Hamilton police mounted an extensive manhunt around Cannon Street East and Gage Avenue early Wednesday, searching for a man who escaped custody in handcuffs after police executed a search warrant at a nearby home.

Police “seized some drugs and some guns and arrested some people and one guy ran out,” a spokesperson said.

More details are expected today.

The man ran out the back door of a home on Cannon Street just east of Gage Avenue North at 6:30 a.m., wearing only boxer shorts. His hands were already cuffed behind his back.

Police promptly flooded the neighbourhood and set up a perimeter to hold the man in the area, but so far he has not been caught.

The house is the centre of a police investigation.
