Winona's Walmart is facing another planning battle.
Three citizens groups are appealing council's approval of the $85-million retail complex to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB).
Hamiltonians for Progressive Development (HPD), Environment Hamilton and Citizens Assessing Development on the Niagara Escarpment have all filed appeals with the city clerk.
HPD and Environment Hamilton are also appealing the $100-million power centre on Centennial Parkway near the QEW.
HPD believes the two projects contradict provincial policies that protect employment land.
"Hamilton cannot afford to lose opportunities for job creation within the urban boundary," the group said in a release yesterday.
