Brad Clark has recieved a verbal reprimand.
The punishment against the Stoney Creek Councillor is within a 30 page report from the city's integrity commissioner, who has completed his investigation into the so-called "tape gate" scandal.
The report by George Rust-D'Eye concludes that Clark broke city council's code of conduct when he circulated a tape of the Mayor having an off-the-record conversation with a local reporter.
The integrity commissioner, in his findings, adds that he believes Clark acted for "personal political purposes" sincehe found "no evidence of public benefit" arising from his disclosure.
Despite that, Rust-D"Eye recommends only the reprimand against the Stoney Creek Councillor which is included in his report. He concludes that there is little purpose to be served in imposing a financial penalty.
Clark has released a written statement saying that he accepts the "sanction", even though he does not agree with all of the integrity commissioner's findings.
