Mayor calls for campaign donation bans

Saying it's all about perception, Mayor Fred Eisenberger has convinced the majority of city councillors to ask the province for the right to ban corporate and union campaign donations.

Eisenberger says many voters believe union and corporate donations impact political decisions.

But not all councillors agree.

Councillor Brad Clark says the business community and unions give money to candidates who reflect the values they would like to see in office, not to buy favour.
