Mayor Fred Eisenberger said the city is "certainly open" to helping out residents without insurance who have endured multiple floodings.
"I'm sure that the assessment will be done in the next day or two and hopefully ... we'll come up with some assistance for everyone, at some level or another," Eisenberger said last night.
He noted that some areas may have been hit for the first time and it's too soon to know what the scope or impact is. But others have been hit many times "and I'm sure we're going to have to do something to see them through."
The city already offers a $750-compassionate grant homeowners can apply for, a program the mayor says council will need to reaffirm for this flood.
East end Councillor Sam Merulla sent out several e-mails regarding the flooding yesterday, at one point demanding aid from all levels of government.
He also demanded that residents who were affected by flooding because of the storm be fully compensated and said that thousands had been impacted by the recent failure of the city's infrastructure.
