Mountain Cablevision sold to Shaw

Mountain Cablevision Limited is being sold.

The local company announced today it has agreed to be taken over by an affiliate of Shaw Communications Inc.

The deal requires approval by the Canadian Radio Television-Telecommunications Commission.

Mountain Cable provides cable television, Internet, residential and commercial telephone services in Hamilton and parts of Haldimand County.

The company has 41,000 cable customers, 28,000 Internet subscribers and 27,000 telephone customers.

“We are proud of the successful communications company that we have built in Hamilton and surrounding area and there isn’t any doubt in my mind that we have chosen the right company to acquire Mountain and to continue our tradition of service through commitment to our employees and loyal customers,” said Owen Boris who founded Mountain Cable 50 years ago this very month in a news release.
