About one dozen vehicle owners can expect letters in the mail regarding speeding on Mountain Park Avenue Tuesday morning.
That's how many drivers were spotted in one hour going well in excess of the 30 km/h speed limit on the mountain brow street."I'll guarantee you over 50 per cent are going over the speed limit," said Ross Skuse, one of the three volunteers from the Concession St. Community Policing Centre who were out with a radar unit and portable digital sign."We got one doing 60 (km/h)."The trio set up shop as part of the city's Neighbourhood Speed Watch program, which targets speeding in residential areas. The hope is to increase driver awareness; the data collected through the program is used by city traffic engineers and police to determine problem locations. The licence plate tags of the serious scofflaws are noted by the volunteers and handed over to police, who send letters to the registered owners.
