Hamilton police believe they have rescued a St. Catharines man from some friends who took him prisoner at a Stoney Creek Motel after a Toronto drug deal went bad.
Officers rescued the 34-year-old victim after stopping a car driven by one of his captors early Tuesday afternoon.
Police, who said the victim had not been harmed, raided a unit at the Stoney Creek Motel on Highway 8 west of Green Road Tuesday evening and arrested three men for forcible confinement. They also arrested two women and two men, all of Hamilton, and a Stoney Creek youth for possession of cocaine.
Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings said the drama began Monday in Toronto when Metro police got a call about a possible abduction.
The caller suggested someone had called police because he had got a call telling him he would be the next person abducted if the caller did not get what he wanted.
Hamilton police were called and began looking for suspects in the Stoney Creek area.
