Prominent Hamilton physician, philanthropist and passionate crusader for quality health care Dr. Bob Kemp has died.
Kemp, 95, died in his sleep early this morning at Pine Villa Nursing Home in Stoney Creek, his family said.The family physician, who practised for over 50 years, was the driving force behind bringing upgraded health care to east Hamilton and Stoney Creek, and helped establish the St. Joseph’s Centre for Ambulatory Health Services.In 1996, Kemp and his wife Mildred donated their home and family practice to become the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. A new $4.2 million hospice was built on Stone Church Road East near Upper Wellington in 2007.
