Local investments in education, health-care and innovation are being applauded.

U.S based consultant and communicator Rebecca Ryan says it is those kinds of investments that will help transform Hamilton into a "next generation community".

Ryan was the keynote speaker at the city's second annual Economic Summit, which has drawn hundreds of community leaders to the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
