A Hamilton man has been charged in a violent purse snatching that left an 87-year-old woman with a fractured arm and jaw.The man “turned himself in Saturday night,” said Hamilton police media officer Sergeant Terri-Lynn Collings. “There was some remorse involved, but he knew we’d identified him.”Police have discounted a link between the man and a string of other purse snatchings in east Hamilton. “We determined that this was an isolated incident,” Collings said.On Apr. 30, the elderly woman was walking along Main Street East outside Delta high school when a man on a bicycle rode up behind her, knocked her to the ground and took off with her purse.
