Floodlights. Closed-circuit TV cameras. Extra police officers. Those are the kinds of measures that might seem likely to kill a night out in Hess Village.
But many who frequent the district say the tools, which police have asked for, would actually be a welcome addition to the weekend hotspot.
"Love every minute of it," said Lazy Flamingo security worker Colin Gillis, 20. "We don't have to worry about drunk people doing stupid things."
Gillis likes the idea of floodlights in the village, which would be turned on when patrons leave at the end of the night.
TV cameras should be up and running by June and getting a couple of extra special duty officers to patrol the nightlife is also in the works.
