Karen Burson imagines a Hamilton where every variety store has a spot for fresh vegetables, fruit and dairy items.
"It's long-term, but where we want to go," the Hamilton Eat Local co-ordinator says of the dream.
It would put what she calls the Fab Five -- potatoes, onions, carrots, apples and dairy (eggs and milk) -- in prominent spots in corner stores alongside the potato chips and carrot cake so customers would have healthy options.
In the meantime, with the launch yesterday of the Eat Local farm map, the fresh-food campaigner is trying to get people up and out to the cornucopia of produce ringing the city.
