Stoney Creek muggers meet their match

Police said a 19-year-old Hamilton man was walking home near Odessa and Rand streets in Upper Stoney Creek around 8:30 Wednesday night when two men confronted him. That was their first error.

When the pair demanded his wallet, the 'victim' told them he didn’t have one and walked on.

One of the men then hit him with something over the back of his head from behind. Second mistake. And the fight was on.

Afterwards, the teen calmly went home and called police, leaving the pair groaning on the sidewalk. The would-be bandits managed to limp away before police arrived.
