Orchard Park fights hit YouTube

Parents of Orchard Park Secondary students are concerned as fights breaking out at the school are being filmed by student bystanders using camera phones and posted on video websites like YouTube.

A father, who asked not to be named to protect his child’s anonymity, said he was shocked when he found videos of two fights taking place on the property of the Stoney Creek school posted on an internet website.

Of course this is not exclusive to Orchard Park.

A quick search of the term ‘school fights’ on Youtube yields hundreds of fights, on school properties, buses and inside school buildings all around the world.

“Nobody wants to intervene and stop the fight, and it turns into a mob mentality,” the father told the Stoney Creek News. “When I asked my son about it he said they’re seeing more and more of this type of behaviour, and we haven’t heard anything about it from the school.”
