Hamilton police are stepping up patrols around McMaster University this week as students celebrate the end of exams and move out of their off-campus accommodations.Police have assigned eight extra officers to the neighbourhoods near the university, said Inspector Warren Korol.In their first two nights this week, police wrote 36 tickets for offences including drinking in public, making too much noise at night, and littering. The program is meant to preserve the quality of life in neighbourhoods where families and students live side-by-side, Korol said.
