A Hamilton woman who ignored repeated warnings not to drive after a night of drinking was given a 30-month prison sentence yesterday for crashing into a hydro pole and killing a friend. Katherine Walpole, 24, is also prohibited from driving for eight years after her release. Walpole, who was attending the University of Guelph, lost control of her car on a curve in Cambridge in November 2007. Her passenger, Kevin Block, 21, was killed instantly. The two had been drinking beer together for more than three hours at a Kitchener restaurant and bar.
