The severe weather that blew through the city Saturday is like a hint of what’s to come, says an Environment Canada official.Sarah Wong, a meteorologist with the government agency, said this was our first major thunderstorm and it will continue throughout the spring and summer. The weather that tore through Hamilton in a short, sharp spurt during the late afternoon brought with it a downpour and strong winds in the region.Wong said winds reached up to 100 km/hr in this area, while Toronto’s Pearson International Airport reported record-breaking gusts of 115 km/hr. The previous record was set in January 1978.
