A former star football player at Cathedral High School has admitted to a central role in an American college gambling scheme.
The Associated Press reports that U.S. federal court documents say Adam Cuomo recruited football teammates and basketball players at the University of Toledo to take part in a point-shaving scheme.
ESPN.com reports the unsealed criminal complaint in the Detroit court revealed Cuomo was implicated through wiretaps that recorded two calls from him in Canada to a man in a Detroit suburb.
The calls, which were made after his time at Toledo, centred on recruiting athletes at the school to engage in point-shaving schemes.
