Two Stoney Creek teenagers are facing charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon and assault causing bodily harm, after a woman was burned by a flare fired in the stands at Wednesday’s Toronto FC game.
Toronto police say the two young men from Stoney Creek, Ont., one 18, the other 17, were in the stands at BMO Field during the TFC-Chivas USA game when they each ignited a flare and threw them towards the soccer pitch.
“One flare landed on a woman’s thigh, burning through her pants and causing a burn to her thigh,” said a news release issued yesterday by Toronto police. “The second torch landed on the artificial turf, causing a section to ignite, causing approximately $2,000 damage.”
