Five people face nearly three dozen charges following what police call an eight-month investigation into trafficking in illegal firearms on Six Nations.
Police say they uncovered 20 firearms and 3,000 rounds of ammunition when they raided two homes on Six Nations Wednesday.
The investigation by Six Nations police and the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU) also found 10 stolen ATVs valued at $50,000, a large quantity of pot and a total of $213,000 in cash. In one home, police say they found about $183,000.
OPP Sergeant Dave Rektor said last night Six Nations Police received information last year that firearms involved in trafficking on Six Nations were coming into the community through smuggling and break-and-enters. The weapons included numerous rifles, assault rifles and semi- automatic and revolver style handguns.
