Two city councillors want a review of how a parking bylaw is enforced after a flood of complaints from irritated citizens getting ticketed in the middle of night for parking the wrong direction at the curb.
It's illegal to park your car with the driver's side wheels against the curb, but Councillors Brian McHattie and Bernie Morelli say it is a low-level infraction on quiet side streets that generally shouldn't result in a fine when no safety concerns are involved.
McHattie and the city's top bylaw bureaucrat say police officers and not city bylaw officers are behind a surge in parking tickets on curbside cars facing the wrong way over the past several months.
