I don't know what's more astounding .. that the organizers would bring her up here for a Healthcare fundraiser in the first place, or that they just don't get why this has become a big deal? I am wondering if this is a case of well meaning volunteers organizing something they hadn't thought through, or a professional company just trying to make money with ticket sales by bringing in anyone who is a "name". Regardless, it's a good example about why it's important that worthy organization be very careful about which third party organizations they associate their names with ....

It is a big deal because too many Canadians are like babies. They cannot seem to handle open debate because they can only think what the MSM and the brainwashiing educational system tells them to. Our health system is not perfect by any means, and one only has to think of the poor lady in Waterdown who if she hadn't got seen and treated in the US, would have died before treatment in Canada.
There are countless examples of why "free" health care doesn't work well - your pet can get an MRI quicker than you - but vets are largely private health care providers. Too many people wait too long for appointments for specialists, and advanced diagnostic tool(s) time.
If many Americans have a negative perception of our system it's because so many Canadians go there for treatment. I saw an article in the paper not long ago, wherein the provincial gov't was bemoaning the cost of paying for Canadians treated in the US - even though only a fraction of those who do so are reimbursed in anyway.
Healthy and spirited debate of differing points of view whould be the hallmark of a so-called "free" society.Just because you may not agree Victoria, with another's point of view doesn't mean they should be barred from voicing it, or showered with vitriol.
