Owners of the former Dundas District school are asking the building’s neighbours to keep an eye on it as a rash of young ghost hunters are making the historic structure a destination for illegal entries.
Dave Valvasori, along with his brother Mike, are moving ahead with plans to convert the former school into condo units. But in the meantime, Valvasori acknowledges, youths are breaking into the building in search of the ghost of a former caretaker rumoured to haunt it.
“It’s an ongoing issue,” he said. “It’s a nuisance issue. It requires me to go there and board up windows, seal the doors.”
Hamilton Police have received several reports of young people entering the building. When officers arrived after one recent call, they found a group of five teens leaving the building.
