Calling it an historic day, members of the City of Burlington’s budget and strategic planning committee unanimously approved a promise to give Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital (JBMH) $60 million as the municipality’s share of funding for a $312-million hospital redevelopment project.
Late yesterday (Tuesday) morning, after two hours of listening to and questioning delegations from the hospital, the business community and an Ipsos Reid survey representative, as well as asking questions of its own staff, councillors John Taylor, Carol D’Amelio, Jack Dennison, Rick Craven, Peter Thoem, Rick Goldring and Mayor Cam Jackson voted in favour of making the largest municipal financial commitment to a single project in Burlington history.
