Suburbs must pay Pan Am share: Merulla

Councillor Sam Merulla wants to make sure the price tag of the Pan Am Games is shared by all city residents -- unlike the costs of Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Under the area rating system, only residents of the old city of Hamilton pay for the annual operating costs and minor repairs to Ivor Wynne. This year, old city residents will pay $1.4 million. Suburban residents, on the other hand, weren't charged.

Now, Merulla wants to ensure the same thing doesn't happen with the Pan Am stadium.
