An eight-month drug crackdown against street dealers has ended in 93 arrests and more than 200 charges in Hamilton.
In Project Chip Off, Hamilton police concentrated on crime-plagued areas throughout downtown and central Hamilton. They flooded areas in the core with plainclothes officers buying drugs from street-level dealers.
"We identified the areas through intelligence-led policing strategies, intelligence from the front line, Crime Stopper tips and complaints from the community," said Inspector Dan Kinsella. "We used geographical information system mapping based on break and enters, muggings and robberies," combined with police calls to target specific areas.
