Missing Ancaster man found on east Mountain

A missing elderly Ancaster man who suffers from dementia has been found safe and sound on the east Mountain.

Jack Beemer, 86, was found at Upper Ottawa Street and Fennell Avenue early Sunday afternoon, almost 24 hours after his disappeared from his Sunnyridge Road in rural Ancaster.

He’d gone for a walk and “was last seen at Sunnyridge and Highway 2,” said Hamilton police Staff Sergeant Dominic Palmieri, but somehow ended up on the other side of the upper city.

“He may have taken a bus and may have spent night at a bus shelter.”

A plaza property manager found a confused Mr. Beemer trying to enter a locked store.

He had been last seen walking along the side of Highway 2, and witnesses say a grey van stopped and picked him up, said his daughter Colleen Beemer-MacDonald Sunday morning.
